Brief

The client’s brief was to ensure the home supported their lifestyle and needs. There wasn’t one room that was left untouched—every space has had its potential maximised in order to fulfil and exceed the client’s expectations.

Execution

Working with David Blaikie Architects, we turned the client’s brief into reality. Internally, we conducted numerous structural alterations to adhere to the new design. We conducted a full re-wire and re-plumb, as well as plastering and painting throughout. We installed underfloor heating in the bathrooms and kitchen; carpets were fitted by Peter Young Flooring and our team fitted the solid oak flooring. The bathrooms are sourced from Victor Paris and the luxurious tiles are by Mandarin Stone.

There’s bespoke cabinetry throughout the property, which exudes character and perfectly matches the property’s age. The dresser in the lounge is by Gopherwood and the kitchen is by Peden & Pringle.

Most striking of all is this home’s connection to the garden. Beautifully landscaped by Water Gems, the split-level design delivers a tremendous visual impact. The garden has effectively been divided into two zones—the paved section and the lawned section. The former is ripe for entertaining whilst the latter, removed from the patio, is an idyllic spot to preserve the longevity of various delicate flowers and plants. The garden is connected to the main house by patio doors; access is also be granted via the rear extension, also known as the sitooterie (this is a Scots colloquial term, which means a place to sit out in). It’s particularly apt when you consider the primary use of this extension.

The sitooterie is clad in larch by Russwood. The windows and doors throughout the property were supplied by a local, family-run business called Bonnington’s.

Testimonial

We re-visit every project one year after completion in order to conduct various snagging work. Only after that is finished do we request a testimonial because we want to ensure our clients have lived in and enjoyed their new home.
