Eton Terrace
A reconfiguration of an elegant Georgian sandstone
We helped our client see that they didn’t actually need a rear extension to provide more space. All they needed was a completely reconfigured layout.
Brief
Our client had initially dreamt of a sandstone rear extension. During our initial meeting, it became evident that they might actually benefit more by reconfiguring the internal layout. Working alongside David Blaikie Architects, they completely redesigned the internal space. Our client quickly realised that the property offered them all the space they needed.
Execution
In order to maximise space and make the rooms comfortable, enjoyable and of comparable quality, we raised all the ceilings in the basement. New cornices were fitted throughout the two-floor property in order to unify each space. We installed underfloor heating throughout the basement level, which sits underneath parquet flooring by Kährs.
We conducted a full rewire and replumb throughout the property. We plastered every room and decorated throughout. We added a basement-level front door and created an archway and balustrade at the top of the stairs. Various internal doors were replaced in order to match the originals.
We installed steel-framed doors, designed to offer supreme energy performance, to the rear of the property. The frameless glazing also offers instant connection with the landscaped garden. It’s the perfect spot for a kitchen, which was designed by Peden & Pringle. It was a delight to work with them again. They also produced the cabinetry in the dining room and utility room, as well as the wardrobes in the bedroom. They conceal a hidden en-suite, which has microcement walls.
The bathrooms throughout this property are opulent and luxurious; all sourced from Lusso. There are three in total, and a WC too.
Testimonial
We re-visit every project one year after completion in order to conduct various snagging work. Only after that is finished do we request a testimonial because we want to ensure our clients have lived in and enjoyed their new home.
