A reconfiguration of an apartment within a Victorian townhouse
The layout was completely re-modified to suit the needs of its new owner. In collaboration with Jeffreys Interiors.
Brief
Jeffreys Interiors approached us to lead a full refurbishment of this tired apartment within a stone-built Victorian townhouse in Edinburgh’s West End. We project managed the renovation from start to finish, performing various structural alterations in order to satisfy the client’s brief.
The brief was to inject flow and harmony into this apartment by creating a series of rooms to socialise, entertain and rejuvenate. The client was relocating to Edinburgh so this home needed to satisfy their new lifestyle in Scotland’s capital.
Execution
The property was ready for an overhaul. We conducted a full renovation, as well as a complete reconfiguration. We created a new shower room by taking space from the large guest bedroom at the front of the property. We also increased the size of the master bedroom and en-suite by removing two walls and erecting another. We created instant connection between the lounge and dining room by opening up the dividing wall and installing double doors. These two spaces can now be enjoyed as one, or as separate spaces.
The glorious kitchen is by Peden & Pringle and, as you’d expect, integrates many features and solutions that make life easy and more manageable. The integrated laundry space is our favourite. We dropped the ceiling in the kitchen to conceal the waste pipe from the newly created shower room. We installed a new cornice to look as though it’d been there all along.
The property received a full rewire. We also re-plumbed the entire home; installing a new, state-of-the-art heating system. There’s underfloor heating in each bathroom. All of the windows were completely refurbished. We also installed new wood flooring throughout and carpets in specific rooms.
The property’s immaculate design scheme is an ode to Jeffreys Interiors’ incredibly talented interior design team. Following their specifications, we redecorated throughout using a selection of neutral paint colours. The walls are now the perfect backdrops to appreciate the client’s exquisite art collection.

We re-visit every project one year after completion in order to conduct various snagging work. Only after that is finished do we request a testimonial because we want to ensure our clients have lived in and enjoyed their new home.
